Nerul is the resultant of conducting various Bhajans and Keerthans in the praise of GOD which happens to be the core activities of the "Nerul Bhaktha Samaj– (NBS)" formed in the year 1988. The dream of constructing a temple of Lord Muruga was sown into the minds of the samaj members by elders like Sarvashri, Late NeelakantaIyer, Late Shri Sundaram Iyer and Late Shri Mani Iyer and carried forwarded by the team consisting of Sri C S Doraiswamy, Sri Soundararajan and Late Sri Tata Murthy and others to make it a reality with the blessings of Lord Muruga.
CIDCO authorities were kind enough to recognize NBS and allotted a plot measuring 440.92 Sq.mtrs. on which this beautiful temple is now standing. The then president Shri N Ramani, son of Late Shri Neelakanta Iyer, singlehandedly completed the activity of Sthala Shuddi followed by construction of Balalayam, temporary shed & flooring with all facilities within a short span of time for the Samaj to conduct various functions smoothly.
Construction activities of the temple started in April 2012 and the foundation stone was laid on 1st May 2012 at the hands of Jagadguru H H Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam.
Shri K V Natarajan, Civil Engineer, retired from JNPT and later on, he was supported by Shri Suresh Venkatraman an engineering professional, and Sri M.Subramaniam, have been the epitome of the whole activity of construction according to Tamil Nadu Temple Architecture by reputed Stapathi Shri Manoharan of Tiruvarur and the deities of the Lords have been designed & sculptured by Stapathi Shri Swaminathan of Kanchipuram, under the supervision of Sri Ramanna, Chief Priest of Narayanai Peetam, Golden Temple, Vellore.
With the grace of all the Devathas and the blessings of H H Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi and also with the magnificent help and overflowing devotion of all the devotees, Kumbhabhishekam of "Sri Valli Devasena Samedha Sri Prasanna Kalyana Subramaniya Swamy, Mahaganapathy, Meenakshi & Sundareswarar" was performed in the most traditional style on the auspicious day 12th February, 2014- Wednesday between 9 am and 10.00 am.
